For the development of economy, many reinforced concrete arch bridges have been built in China in last 70-90’. However, after decades of operation, most of these reinforced concrete arch bridges can not meet the increasing demand of transportation because of the lack of necessary administration,maintance and rehabilitation. Even worse, it has became the vital restrictive factor of the local economy. So it is important to strengthen these arch bridges. In the process of arch bridge strengthening construction and rehabilitation, it is essential to analysis and monitor the change of horizontal thrust at piers’top and internal force of arch, for it may bring some potential risk. Considering the continuous arch effect, it is necessary to not only analysis the strength and stability of arch bridge, but also apply reasonal and scientific method in the construction and rehabilitation of multiple arch bridge. The main contents of this thesisis as follows:(1)Learning and summarizing the developing history of arch bridge in China, counting and analyzing the reasons of arch bridge accidents and dieases,summing up the features of these accidents.According to the structure feacture of arch bridges,sketch the evolutive trend of arch bridge.(2)In this thesis, based on the rehabilitation of Jialingjiang arch bridge project, three kinds of construction methods of reinforcing had been put forward according to the different reaction of strength and stability of the arch.Analysing the internal forces and stability of different methods,pick up the appropriate construction method.(3)Ignoring the effect of abutment pier,use software Midas/Civil to simulate the construction of the whole bridge,and base on the load-bearing capacity and stability of the arch,design the reasonal construction method.(4)Investigated the main factors of the continuous-arch effect,discussed the affect of combined action of the arch shape spandrel structure with the main rach rib to multi-arch bridge.
