The foundation of every state is its education of its youth. The university campuses is the palace of learning and accumulating knowledge for large number of students. The essence of university lays on the profound cultural connotation. With the development of education philosophy, the policy level, academic skills and moral literacy of students are strictly demanded improving. The university campus is the main place of the students’ life and study. The mind and attitude of students can be unconsciously influenced by the campus landscape layout. Therefore, it is necessary to combine the abundant cultural connotation with the landscape layout designing.During the past years, increasing investments have been poured into the education. People have payed more and more attention on the landscape layout construction. However, lots of problems appeared. For example, design without the landform and geography or lack of overall coordination. Therefore, it has become a common concern of the community that how cultural connotation combined with landscape layout.The paper focused on the campus landscape design. the cultural connotation was introduced. It mainly included the history of the cultural connotation, the definition of the culture, the culture influence on the people. And the combined the domestic and overseas landscape and analyzed the differences, advantages and disadvantages. We took Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University for example and analyzed the cultural connotation. The viewpoint which the culture connotation and the landscape layout should be combined was put forward. Culture connotation provided the theoretic foundation for the designer of the landscape layout. The design principles of landscape culture were concluded. It provides the new ideas for the landscape designation.
