With the rapid advance process of urbanization and motorization of our country, the contradiction between supply and demand of urban traffic is becoming more and more sharp which severely restricts the sustainable development of the city. Public transport which has the advantages of large capacity, high efficiency, low transportation cost and environmental is the inevitable choice to resolve urban traffic problems. However, the expansion of city scale constantly promotes the development of residential suburbanization. Regular bus service system is difficult to cover the low density population zone such as the edge of the city, resulting in the increase of trip distance and the growth travel time. Flexible feeder transit system is the emerging flexible type between the conventional public transportation and private car travel patterns, effectively meets personalized travel needs of urban residents in low density population zone, promoting the integration process of the urban public transportation system.This paper studies the transfer hub oriented flexible feeder transit system, discusses a kind of ring feeder service considering the behavior of passengers getting on or off the bus and carries on the optimization design.Aiming to meet the demand of passengers’ personalized diverse travel, it establishes the effective connection between existing public transportation system and improves the accessibility of urban public transport system.Firstly, this paper draws lessons from domestic and foreign scholars on the basis of existing research results, analyzing the system characteristic of the flexible feeder transit system with the combination of service mode and operation mechanism and put forward the research object of this paper- the transferring hub system for flexible bus shuttle route optimization research. Secondly, considering the getting on and off passengers in the same flexible site during the shuttle service and their reservation time range. It establishes multiple vehicle type optimization model to minimize the total run time of the bus and avoid lowing passenger service level due to in advance or delay arrival of bus team. Thirdly, the article considers the multi-vehicle route optimization problem, build optimization model of vehicle route minimizing the convoy vehicle operating cost and passengers waiting cost in order to find different models influence of the system operation cost, providing theoretical basis of the service model selection for flexible feeder transit system. Finally, this paper takes Jinan east new district emerging resident area as a case to carry on the example simulation to verify the feasibility and practicability of the model. This paper research results has a certain guiding significance on transfer hub oriented flexible feeder transit system service route optimization and reasonable configuration of the vehicle of cities in our country.
