The advancement of science and technology simulates the development of high-speed and heavy-haul railway, at the same time the requirements of the CWR have been raised higher and higher, especially the smoothness of welded joints and its internal quality. It will need to connect the rail by welding during the CWR laying, the smoothness of the welded joints could affect the service life of the CWR and the train, it could slao imited the safety and the comfort for passenger. The grinding of the rail welded joints is an important process during the construction of the railyway, to ensure a fine flatness, safety, comfortable, securely and speedily, train experience is significant.At present, they are using stationary automatic rail welding joints refiner at the grinding station of the rail welding base. Use this requirements to refine the rail welded joints, make sure the flatness of welded joint must be meeting the requirements of the railway standard TB/T1632-2014, and the application of the railway, but the rail joint was grindded with artificial manual operation at the outside field, The quality of grinding was just relied on the experience and proficiency of the operator, and it is unable to control the grinding process stable, So it occurs easily that the excessive or less grinding. And the result is that unfavorable smoothness and low operate efficiency. The high-speed trains was running with a great risk. Therefore, it is needed to improve automation and intelligence of the mobile profile refiner, which is the key technologies on site repairs of railway.This article based on the own research and development of the refiner, and existed problems of the machine and referenced from the advanced technology of similar grinding equipments, optimization design of machinery and control system. In the mechanical structure, it was changed that the gear transmission to replace the original spring manner and increasing the stiffness of related components of equipment and the installation accuracy. For electrical control systems, using the FX3UC series PLC of Mitsubishi as the control core and servo motor of KINCO as driving mode could insure the better accuracy and reliability of motion control.On the basis what had been done, some other works have been done that building the control system hardware platform, preparating the control program of PLC and the touch screen interface and debugging the program off line also on-site commissioning. The designed system had several functions such as grinding, refining, hand operating and retroactive reporting that could be meeting the requirements of the rail welded joints grinding.The results of the testing showed that, the fine grinding machine met the demands of engineering and achieved the accurate control to rail profile and reciprocating motion after optimization. Compared with the machine before optimization, the control accuracy and grinding efficiency have been improved. The test showed that this mechine has a good maintenance and extension.
