As the most important mechanical components of tension structure, High-strength cable controls the integrality performance of the structure. By taking the widely used Galfan cable as the research object, its general stress condition in engineering was deeply researched through theoretical model, static test, numerical simulation.The main work of this thesis consisted of 5 parts:(1) Basic properties of Galfan cable were assured, such as structure characteristics, wire material properties.The main stress state and mechanical properties in engineering application were clarified (chapter 1,2).(2) Through a number of assumptions, the complex problem of the cable wire stress was simplified as a simple geometric problem.5 different types of theoretical models were presented, and the theoretical stress distribution of each type was proposed (chapter 3).(3) 10 specimens of Galfan cable were tested. Strain of the outermost layer wires was acquired by strain gauge decorated on the cable.The strain of the outermost layer wires in cable was given, and the law of strain range along with the layer number was clarified. Due to the structure correlation of different type Galfan cables, wire strain distribution inside Galfan cables could be inferenced (chapter 4).(4) According to the existing research results, a new numerical method for Galfan cable stress distribution problem was proposed. Refer tothe test specimens parameters, fine numerical models of Galfan cables were set up. The scientific and reliability of the new numerical method was verified by compared with static test, and the application range of precision was also given. According to the calculation results of four types numerical cable models, the stress distribution of each type cable in general stress condition was presented. Combining with the results of static test and theoretical models, non-uniform distribution regularity of the internal stress in Galfan cables were summarized. The coefficients of non-uniform distribution of the internal stress in Galfan cables were discussed, while the influencing factors were also assured (chapter 5).(5) There is internal stress non-uniform distribution problem in Galfan cable, and it’s different form general traditional tension member. The wire stress of each layer in cable decreases from the inside out, and the wire stress fluctuates along the longitudinal direction of cable. The stress nonuniformity of Galfan cable increases along with the layer number increasement, and it decreases with increasing cable force.
