| Although concrete is one of the most commonly used building materials, it does not always meet the requirements due to the high brittleness. It has been observed from some previous research that the properties of concrete will be improved when the used automobile-tire chips are added into concrete. As a new material rubber concrete can not only improve the performance of concrete but also solves the problem of dealing with waste tires. This is a kind of resource saving and environment-friendly material, which has a broad application prospect in civil engineering. As a kind of hyper-elastic material, rubber primarily improve the internal structure of concrete through physical interaction without changing the chemical properties of each component in the concrete. Adding the rubber particles greatly improve the properties of shock absorption, impact resistance, spalling resistance, heat and sound insulation and etc.So based on the current research the main contents in this paper include the following aspects:(1)The use of tire-rubber particles of three kind of sizes as a replacement for fine aggregate in concrete was investigated. Rubber has replaced fine aggregate at content levels of 10%, 20% and 30%, and in concrete by volume. The slump, density, compressive strength, elasticity modulus, and flexural strength have been compared to the corresponding properties of controlled concrete through the experiment. The results showed that an increase of rubber particles in concrete leads to a decrease of the slump, density, compressive strength, elasticity modulus, and flexural strength when compared to that of common concrete.(2) For different sizes of rubber particles, linear regression equations were established between the relation of rubber concrete stress-strain and the amount of rubber particles.(3)The 300mm×50mm×300mm specimens were fabricated, and the time history curves of the specimens under free decay were studied, which obtained the damping ratios of different specimens. The results indicated that the damping ratio of the specimens with rubber particles was higher than that of common concrete.(4)Use Etabs program to anylaze damping properties of rubber concrete frame structure, and the result shows that the seismic performance of rubber concrete is better than ordinary concrete. |
