The field synergy principle reviews the physical mechanism of heat convection, and ensures that the synergy of fluid velocity and temperature gradient is in close connection with heat convection. The principle has guiding significance to designing enhanced heat transfer surface and unit, also its application in heat transfer area is a hot spot of research. It is known that equipment efficiency has a direct influence on economic benefit, meanwhile safety performance cannot be ignored either. Current research work has proved that, synergic relationships also exist in multiple failure modes. The author introduced the field synergy theory. The solid particle erosion mechanism of action is clear through the summary of the erosion theories and models. Proper models and their erosion calculation formulas are chosen. Based on this, the quasi-field synergy equation of erosion is deducted. Then the law of synergy in related fields or quasi-fields is analyzed. The basic mechanisms of different corrosion modes are analyzed. Mainly focusing on the corrosion electrode reaction process, the author can get the general law of controlling corrosion rate. The field synergy equation of corrosion can be deducted using the convection diffusion equation. Also the synergic relationship between internal fluid vector fields and the influence rule of the synergy to the corrosion of external structure can be known. The stress expression is carried out based on the theory of plate and shell, then the internal fluid force acting on the external structure is worked out. Combining the above two formulas, the quasi-field synergy equation of strength in plates and shells is deducted. The author studied the law of vector field and quasi-field actions, and analyzed how to improve the safety performance of plates and shells.Choosing fluid transport via pipelines as an example, the author presented a new evaluation index defined as coordination of pipeline safety and energy efficiency or reasonability of pipeline income. Considering factors as total energy transport, pipeline material consumption, pipeline income, investment and operating cost, the coordination evaluation index in normal temperature fluid and thermal fluid pipeline transport are deducted respectively, and verification is made by specific cases. Using this method to determine the economic pipe diameter, the energy transport per unit mass can get maximum, and the ratio of output to input can be optimum, thus the pipeline can operate economically. The research achievement is of great significance to further study of field synergy theory applications in other areas and the improvement of safety performance in plates and shells.
