Globe valve,as one of the most important kind of cut-off valves,are widely used in marine engineering,petro-chemical industry and etc.However,the particles commonly entrained in high speed fluid and cavitation will bring wall thinning and localized erosion when the service environment is extremely severe.The theory of erosion can only deal with simple structures,such as straight tubes and elbows in practical application.This paper will focus on the prediction of erosion rate and its distribution in the valve through numerical simulation.The major job of this paper list below:(1)By analyzing the erosion mechanism,the author concluded that environment factors,particle physical property and target physical property are influence factors of erosion rate.The discrete phase model of Fluent can simulate the pathways of the discrete particles.Based on this and choosing right erosion model,setting correct parameters,we could simulate the erosion distribution in globe valve well.(2)The result of Fluent would show mesh correlation if the grid division is inappropriate.To ensure the accuracy of the result,this paper sets different parameters when dividing grid to seek optimal parameters.Comparing simulation result and experimental result,we found the grid and the erosion model are appropriate.(3)After modeling the flow channel,dividing its grid and choosing appropriate turbulent model and erosion model,we simulate and analyze the erosion characteristic in the valve.The results shows that the secondary flow is the main reason for the high erosion rate and its uneven distribution.This paper also analyzes the erosion distribution in valve spool detailed and make summarize.(4)This paper concludes the variation law when changing the parameters.This paper will help optimize the production while keeping the valve operating safely,it can also play a guide role in the globe valve optimization.
