Toe-shooting method, as a technique for treatment of soft ground, has been widely applied in groynes that built in thick silt layer in the coastal area of Southeast China in recent years. Groynes that built by the toe-shooting method is a new earth structure with extremely large burial depth and complex cross section. At present, the calculation result of bearing capacity of this kind of groynes has a great difference with the actual condition for the simple theory and empirical formula. Therefore, this thesis firstly employs indoor model experiments to make sure the failure mode of groynes’ foundation, and then calculate the formulation of the bearing capacity of groynes according to the plastic limit equilibrium theory of soils.The main content and achievements of this thesis are as follows:(1)Relying on some practical reclamation project, I made a test project of the bearing capacity of simulate groynes based on the existing research achievements, and then got the failure mode of groynes built by the toe-shooting method and the ground deformation rule through the analysis of the deformation of foundation soil in the loading process of simulative groynes.(2)Through the comparison between the result that was produced by the simulation of indoor model test with finite element analysis method and the analysis of the displacement field of foundation soil to further verified the failure mode of groynes that built by the toe-shooting method.(3)The calculation of the bearing capacity of groynes built by the toe-shooting method, deduced from the limit equilibrium theory of plastic soils, based on the result of model test and analysis of numerical simulation, has been compared with the calculation of the bearing capacity of classic buildings is proved to be rational.(4)Based on some engineering, through the comparison and analysis between this thesis’s calculation and the calculation as well as the measured data of the existing bearing capacity of groynes, the result has showed that this thesis’s calculation is better than the existing calculation.The research production of this thesis, which would provide support to the design of the groynes built by the toe-shooting method as well as expand the analysis theory of the bearing capacity of fundation in thick silt layer, has great significance in theory and engineering application.
