A systematize exposition of the liquid and plastic limit of ShanBei loess is given in this paper. When measured the soil liquid limit, by Using the design method of quadratic orthogonal regression test we made new liquid and plastic limit exterminator, we got the law of variation between the soil water content and the conical taper cone Angle, conical taper weight and the time and depth of conical taper sinking, then regress the quadratic regression equation between them. By analyzing the parameters of Y in single factor and multi-factor, the main influence factors and the changing laws are drawled. At the same time, using liquid and plastic limit joint locator and conical standards method to measure the liquid and plastic limit of the loess. Then compared the two different sets of data to determine the best suited to measure the liquid and plastic limit of loess's method.Based on the test of the method of loess liquid and plastic limit, we conclude that the method in building foundation and railway rules and regulations for liquid limit is more reasonable, should continue to spread the use of it. In order to make the measurement results more close to the real value and gear to international standards in the circumstances that the values of Liquid limit come from the Highway standard in Ministry of Communications are greater than the actual value. So we suggest that change the depth of conical cone sinking instead 20mm of 12mm, on the basis of other factors in the benchmark level. Through measuring the loess's best liquid and plastic limit on the study of the method, not only providing strong basis in the looking-up table foundation of bearing capacity, but also put forward some feasible Suggestions in the plasticity chart for fine-grained soils in the classification,...
