| Currently, there is still a large number of ordinary masonry structures with no seismic fortification measures exists in China. It has seriously threatened the safety of people’s life and property. The masonry’tensile strength, shear strength of masonry materials and the overall seismic capacity are weak. These ordinary masonry buildings without seismic fortification measures which seismic strengthened after earthquake if have any value or not and can meet the requirements of the current regulations or not pending further study. This paper tries to make comparison of the before and after the reinforcement masonry structure’seismic behavior and do further research on seismic behavior of the masonry structure after reinforcement.A 1:2 reduced scale ordinary masonry structure model based on the early student dormitory building which designed to be a two layer four rooms with no seismic fortification measures was designed in this paper. After 6 degree rare earthquake, this model has been reinforced by additional concrete beams.The dynamic characteristic of the model before and after the reinforcement was tested by the hammer method to analysis and compare the varies of self vibration characteristics.Pseudo-dynamic tests before and after the reinforcement in 6 degrees rare of seismic were carried out to compare the resilience, displacement, acceleration and other characteristic.Pseudo-dynamic test was carried out again. The displacement, restoring force and acceleration response of the model and strain of steel bar under 7 degree rare earthquake were obtained.By quasi-static test with the masonry structure after reinforcement, the ultimate bearing capacity, hysteretic curves, skeleton curves, stiffness degradation and development of cracks were studied. Then compare the skeleton curve with the previous studies.The results show that the reinforced masonry model is basically intact under the action of 7 degree rare earthquake, and no serious damage has occurred. In addition, that the ordinary masonry building without seismic fortification measures was reinforced by additional concrete beams after 6 degree rare earthquake can meet the requirements of the current regulations. |
