The paper regards a powder metallurgy company independent research and development manufacture trial-produced products, the iron-base powder forging connecting rod as the research object, aims to study the connecting fatigue properties of the connecting rod which adopts the new technology and new material and possesses high density and lightweight characteristics. The paper is going to find out the Iron-based powder forging connecting rod’s disadvantages in terms of structure, raw material chemical composition and proportion, production process etc.and finally provide a reference for large-scale production.This article studied the influence of different copper content on the connecting rod mechanical performance through tensile properties test and thus to determine the Iron-based powder forging connecting rod component ratio used for fatigue test. According to the fatigue test data under circular symmetrical load, we obtained the double coordinates S-N curve fitting line and gets the S-N curve equation expression by calculating. At the same time, we estimate the fatigue limit. By fatigue test under constant average load, we initially determined the fatigue limit of the connecting rod under pressure load. We learned the powder forging connecting rod position which is prone to fracture through statistics date, analyzed the fatigue fracture and studied fatigue failure mechanism from macroscopic and microscopic.On the basis of the stress analysis of connecting rod under engine operating condition and the fatigue test results, the paper carried out the static strength analysis on the connecting rod and got the stress distribution nephogram of two kinds of working conditions. Through connecting rod component’s fatigue simulation analysis based on S-N curve and static analysis. Finally, we obtained the fatigue life cloud, safety coefficient cloud under constant amplitude loading,damage cloud under variable amplitude loading and made a comparison with the test results.
