As an important part of the aircraft hydraulic system, the bootstrap reservoir plays an important role in flight control. In this paper, the working principle and dynamic characteristics of the bootstrap reservoir are analyzed. The faults of the bootstrap reservoir are discussed, and their diagnostic methods are presented. The research mainly includes the following parts:Chapter 1:Introduction. The function and the importance of fault analysis of the bootstrap reservoir are introduced. Research status of the aircraft bootstrap reservoir and its fault analysis are given. The objectives, contents and significance of the research are outlined.Chapter2:The working principle and the structure of the bootstrap reservoir are given, and the mathematic model is built in Matlab@Simulink for analyzing the characteristics of the reservoir. The method of determining the capacity of the bootstrap reservoir is presented. The influence of the key parameters on the reservoir performance is carried out.Chapter3:The reciprocating seal in the high pressure chamber is introduced, and its internal leakage is measured for determing the range of the internal leakage. Two kinds of diagnostic methods of the leakage are put forward.One method based on the wavelet transform, and the other utilized the information derived from the LVDT and the flowmeter.Chapter4:The analysis of the pressure surge based on AMESim and the annalysis of the reservoir strength based on Ansys are carried out.The research results showed that the hydraulic impact alone can not cause the reservoir burst. Then, the primary diagnostic method of the reservoir burst based on the cause analysis of the burst is proposed.Chapter5:The mathematical model of deformation caused by heat and presure is built in Ansys Workbench.The simulation results showed that heat is the major factor of deformation.The heat dissipation ability of two kinds of reservoirs is compared. And the deformation in the transitional area is analyzed, the primary diagnostic method is proposed.Chapter6:The subject progress and research working are summarized. The further exploration and future improvements of the reservoir are pointed out.
