The research studies are advocated to decoupling dehumidification from cooling to improve indoor air quality and reduce energy consumption. The use of dedicated outdoor air ventilation (DV) system combined with dry fan-coil (DC) system is proposed in this study. The DV system treats all the latent loads and part of the sensible loads whist the DC system treats the remaining sensible loads. To investigate the energy and feasible use of the DCDV system in hot and humid climate.The simulation programme-Energyplus was used to simulate the energy use and the achievable room conditions for its application in a typical high-rise office building used for hot and humid regions.The control state of indoor air temperature and relative humidity under the different load conditions were analyzed.The cooling output and the peak electric power value of all components in the system were compared with different systems. Annual energy consumption for the systems and the phenomenon of condensation for the DC system had been set out. Simulation results showed that the DCDV system could maintain better control accuracy of temperature and humidity as air-conditioning running throughout the year. The annual energy use of the DCDV system reduced 54% compareing with the conventional air-conditioning with reheats system. The phenomenon of condensation for the DCDV system occured less than 1% throughout the year.With the experimental study on DCDV system,the experimental results show that the cooling and dehumidification performance of DV is reduced by lowering water supply’s temperature or increasing air volume of the fresh air handling unit.Under the various experimental outdoor conditions, the system can achieve good cooling and dehumidification performance.Research shows that the combined use of dedicated outdoor air ventilation and dry cooling air-conditioning system would have better indoor air quality with reducing energy consumption for hot and humid climates.It could avoid or improve the drawbacks of the process of air handling of conventional air-conditioning system and has a good adaptability.
