With the rapid development of china’s highway and railway construction,the anticipated goal that the construction mileage of high-speed railway with speed of 200Km/h or more is expected to be more than 18000 Km will be achieved at 2020. As if expected, the total mileage of high-speed railway will account for more than half of the world total mileage. Currently, more than half of the goal has been implemented. And during the construction of highway and railway, more than half of the mileage was built by using the method of viaduct line. Therefore, the technical strength and economic level of China will be reflected, to a certain extent, by the development of bridge construction.The bridge girder erection machines are large construction machineries which settle the beams made in advance through lifting them to the place designated. At present, the construction of high-speed railway has been developed into northwest and southeast coastal of China, resulting in the problem that traditional bridge girder erection machines can not go through the tunnel integrally, transport and lift the beam in the tunnel, lift the beam in the portal and so on, and reduction of the efficiency. Regarding the original bridge girder erection machines separated in settle and frame, there is no way to solve the problem that lifting the beam import and export of the tunnel. While the integrated bridge girder erection machine can solve the problem above-mentioned, but construction cost increase due to the low working efficiency and high energy consumption. Hence, it is in urgently need to design the new and developed bridge girder erection machines with high working efficiency and low energy consumption.In this paper, a comprehensive investigation about the development history of bridge girder erection machine has been done, especially for the settled on 500 T. The main contents can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the basic parts structures of bridge girder erection machines has been designed by detailed analysis of the settled on 500 T structure. Secondly, the processes of beam lifting, holes working and tunnel operation have been detailed elaborated. Thirdly, the three-dimensional models have been established in Pro/E software, and unit weight of each parts are calculated in order to calculate the stress-strain, deflection and applied loads by MIDAS software. According to the European crane design specification of relevant theoretical formula, the theoretical design and calculation about the machine arm and shores of 1-3# have been done. After that, the finite element analysis about the distribution of stresses, strains and deflection by ANASYS(WORKBENCH) have been done in order to verigy its safety.
