With the rapid development of economy, the increasing of vehicles and pedestrian travelling probability, the conflict phenomenon in city is more and more serious in China, which directly affects the operating efficiency of regional transportation and the traffic system security. And the conflict in sections and crosswalks is more significant when pedestrians crossing street.Pedestrian crossing violation and overflow phenomenon occur frequently, and compared with other means of transportation, pedestrian traffic is particulary disadvantaged. Therefore, to promote vehicles and pedestrians harmonious development, this paper analyzes pedestrian crossing characteristics, and establishes a pedestrian platoon total crossing time model. This is not only beneft to set a reasonable pedestrian signal timing, reduce the probability of pedestrian violation and protect pedestrian safety; but at the same time can also reduce the vehicles parking times and delay, improve the traffic system operating efficiency and its safety. The paper is organized as follows:1. Pedestrian release characteristics and its dissipation timeThe paper analyzes the pedestrian aggregation properties in the signal sections at the waiting aera outside the crosswalk, and the discharging characteristics after the pedestrian green light beginning, and then applies traffic flow theory, modeling the pedestrian releasing process. Based on the number of crossing pedestrians, this chapter establishes pedestrian discharging time model and calibrates pedestrian lateral distance, validates the proposed model. At the same time the congested lateral distance and comfortable lateral distance are calibrated. Finally, the various impact factors on the number of pedestrians crossing safety and pedestrian discharging time are analyzed, laying the way for the following study.2. Crossing speed of pedestrians based on dynamic density and its basic crossing time modelIn order to analyze the basic pedestrian crossing time without the influence of bidirectional pedestrians and vehicles. Firstly, using video processing software and artifical statistical methods, instantaneous crossing speed was extracted and calculated. Then the relationship between crossing speed and dynamic density was established. Applying integration method, establishes pedestrian basic crossing time model without the influence of bidirectional pedestrians.3. Bidirectional pedestrian friction characteristics and the frictional delay modelThe bidirectional pedestrians interference characteristic is analyzed emphatically and the relationship between directional split ratio and crosswalk actual capacity is investigated during the phase of bidirectional pedestrians encounter in the fourth chapter. On the basis, the pedestrian frictional delay is modeled, and then the corresponding factors are researched.4. The application of pedestrian total crossing timeEnd of the paper summaries and verifiies the three models above; finally get the pedestrian total crossing time model, and then the comfort lateral distance are calibrated. And comparing with the pedestrian platoon’s crossing time in HCM, the proposed model has a higher accuracy than the model of HCM method, can provide a theoretical support for the application of pedestrian crossing time. In addition, according to the needs of the pedestrian crossing time, the recommended value of crosswalk width is given. Provide a reference for the signal control crosswalk width. |
