With the continuous development of the city and deepening of the ecological concept, people have a higher pursuit of living environment. Residential areas are not only the place where people live, but also related to the ecological problems of the city. In recent years, the landscape quality of living areas is more and more emphasized, and some greening indicators such as "greening rate", "greening coverage" and"greening areas per capita" are considered the amount of greening from a flat perspective which is not sufficient to fully reflect the quality of the greening. Therefore, an evaluation standard is necessary to provide residential landscape design with effective reference.The theory of "Green Looking Ratio" simplifies the greening information, investigating three-dimensional constitution of residential areas’greening in the form of quantification to provide residential areas’greening visual quality with a more objective criterion.The theory of "Green Looking Ratio" and the relevant contents are introduced. Taking Qingbo garden in Beijing, Yangzhuang community, ZijinChang’an, Xiuyuan community, Bajiao community and more than ten residential areas as an example,green looking ratio of the road system, open space, green plants is investigated, and the investigating contents and quantitative methods of "Green Looking Ratio" are elaborated. The relevant factors affecting the "Green Looking Ratio" of residential areas are summarized against the investigating results, including user location and angle, the road system, green morphology and plant configuration mode. Comparative analyzing of green visual experience on residential areas’green belt, to improve the quality of residential landscape, design methods based on "Green Looking Ratio" are proposed via the road system settings, the layout of the form of green plants, plants in the configuration mode and selection of plant species.① Set up the road system of the human vehicle shunt, increase the road line type change.② In combination with the point like green and strip green, reasonable expansion of green area, to maintain the continuity of green.③ The use of multiple layer plant configuration mode, rich green level; selection of plant species rich in leaf as a green tree species, increase the amount of green.④ Development of vertical greening, balcony greening and other forms of three-dimensional green, increase the scope of green space.
