With the flourishing development of the shipping industry all over the world, the research of ship motion control is obtained more and more attention. In addition, various ship motions generate due to the interference effect of waves and the irreversible harm is caused by severe ship motion. Therefore, the research on the response of the ship to the waves has very important theoretical significance and research value, which to improve the stability of the shipping industry, guarantee the safety of navigation as well as the design of ship control system. The research that ship responses to waves is carried out on the ship motion control platform, which is combined with the environment of laboratory.First of all, it is completed that the design of hardware and circuit connection of the ship motion control platform. The drive and protect printed-circuit board is designed, which is based on the original hardware facilities and which is convenient to the control platform debugging and makes the control performance optimized.Secondly, the wave as the interference is fully studied, in order to research the response of the ship to the waves deeply. The long random wave model is established according to the statistic characteristics of random wave and the real-time simulation of different state waves is carried out in the MATLAB environment by using linear superposition inversion methods of the wave spectrum.Then, the ship response model to the waves is established by the method of spectral analysis and the simulation of the response with different speed, different angle and different sea condition is carried out in the MATLAB environment.At last, the ship response model to the waves is applied to the ship motion control platform. The model and the model control programs are designed under the VC++ 6.0 environment. And the state of ship motion is imitated by the motion of the platform. Moreover, the visual interface is designed more friendly, which can make the platform be used more convenient and visualized by developer and user.The long random wave model and the ship response model to the waves can meet the requirement according to the experimental result and the ship response to the waves is realized on the ship motion control platform. The completed ship motion control platform is very important to the design of ship motion control system and the verification of the relevant algorithm.
