Since the 21st century, global warming and the rapid melting of the Arctic sea iceburg have become an irreversible trend, at the same time, a new lifeline which stretches across Asia and Europe arises. The opening of the Arctic sea northeast routine has injected new vitality for shipping industry in the downturn. The huge economic potential of this new lifeline has gradually attraced extensive attention in the world. The arctic navigation is also faced with various of challenges which traditional routes never encountered before. Among them, the hydralic oil in some critical deck machinery of the vessel, including the windlass, mooring winch, hydralic steering gear, is subjected to the low temperature of polar, which lead to poor liquidity. As a result, numerous problems arises, such as starting and running obstacles, which not only seriouly affect the daily operation and assignments of the vessel, but also exert nagative impact the normal life of crew members. In addition, a large proprotion of ship’s waste carried out by jacket water has been wasted, causes unnecessary energy dissipation and pollution. Therefore, the application of the jacket water and steam waste heat to control the temperature of deck machinery hydralic oil, is currently an important and realistic issue. The article firstly introduces the development courses of main diesel engine cooling water system and the transmission mechanism of deck machinery hydralic system, then illustrates the changes of hydraulic oil solidifying point and viscosity in low temperature environment, which effects the operation of deck machinery. Based on these analysis above, a set of high temperature water and steam heating system was designed. The schemes are as follows:Install plate heat exchangers respectively in the steering gear room and the after peak tank of arctic navigation vessels, using the main engine waste heat carried out by jacket water, indirectly control the temperature of hydraulic oil, by the form of natural convection cooling. At the same time, install a wave tube heat exchanger, which possesses higher thermal efficiency in the high temperature water systen of arctic navigation vessels, using the waste heat of steam, in order to guarantee that there is sufficient heat for jacket water to deliver. After that, the article estabish the theoretical calculation model, using the related knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer, as well as the fluid mechanics, to verify the feasibility of the schemes mentioned above, then calculate the thickness of thermal insulation material of jacket water transmission pipeline and the wall of certain chamber, and derive the calculation process to select heat exchangers. Finally, article analyze the calculation process using the real ship cases. The result shows that the design scheme is feasible in theory.
