With the continuous development of shipbuilding industry and fishing industry, ocean transportation is becoming heavier, the number of deep-sea fishing boats is on the increase. Because of the overlapping of fishing area and the merchant shipping routes, fishing boat collision accidents occurred frequently. Relative to the merchant ships, fishing boats is smaller, its intensity is lower, and the crews’safety awareness is weaker, once collision accident occurred, the consequences are very serious, if the perpetrator escaped, marine investigation and claims will be more difficult. Crash simulation of fishing boat is important for us to provide theoretical guidance for fishing vessel structure optimization design, to provide scientific basis for the claim, it’s also helpful for the relevant departments to formulate merchant ship speed limit on the special routes. The study of ship collision involves many subjects and fields, which brings great difficulty to the research. Most researchers use the finite element method to study the ship collision. On the basis of reference literature, this paper sumed up the control equations of ship collision and the basic theory of finite element method, and fishing boat collision simulation research was carried out by use of the finite element analysis software ANSYS WORKBENCH.Specifically, a three-dimensional model of fishing boat was established by use of the professional 3D modeling software—Solidworks, then the model was imported into WORKBENCH and generated mesh. In fully considering the geometric nonlinearity, material nonlinearity and contact nonlinearity, crash of fishing boat on a variety of working conditions were simulated by explicit dynamics module in ANSYS WORKBENCH, the working conditions include different collision shapes, different collision position, different collision mass and different collision angle, etc. Analyzed the damage of the fishing boats, total energy absorption law and the maximum stress and strain, The results of the analysis on the fishing boat has certain guiding significance to the structure optimization design, analysis method has a certain reference value to marine survey and claim.
