With the rapid development of automobile industry,the automobile companys continuous emphasize the vehicle performance research.,The performance of engine hood affects the vehicle’s safety and comfort directly.The foreign automobile companys had researched the engine hood deeply in structure,material,process.The engine hood was researched in the paper,the finite element method was applied to analyze the safety performance of engine hood and joint point, the static stiffness analysis and the overbending performance were mainly checked.By neglecting the model influence of unnecessary structure,the shell unit was used to the engine hood meshing and the hexahedral unit was used to the hinge meshing.The engine hood lock was loaded from three axis directions, the static stiffness was calculated by the node displacement,compare with the target value. The overbendind model was established in the Hypermesh, the overbending angel and residual angle was calculated from the static load,to check the equivalent plastic strain of the engine hood and hinge whether meet the design requirement in the loading and unloading process,and to check the strength of engine hood and hinge whether meet the design requirement in the loading and unloading process,The simulation result shows that the engine hood is unqualified in structure,optimize the engine hood by increasing the thickness of inner board,finally the plan was testified feasible.
