City Memory Inheritance And Development Of "DongJiao’s Memory"

Since the launch of reform and opening-up policy, Chinese urbanization develops rapidly with the urban form and structure quite different from the thirty years ago. Urbanization leads to the similarities of urban images and the loss of unique " urban memories ". Over recent years, people have been gradually realizing the importance of "urban memories" protection with systematic researches have been carried out in documentaries, psychology and medical science. However, relevant studies on "urban memories" are ignored. Most studies on "urban memories" concentrate on re-interpretation and application of the concepts of "urban memories" and "memories", with no system which should have formed. Therefore, there is no solution to how to apply "urban memories" to solve the convergence. Based on the phenomenon, the introduction of "urban image" theory bridges the relationship between "urban memories" and urban construction, thereby systematically study the park space in the awareness of tourists. In addition, this paper also studies the application of "urban memories" based on the statistical results of "urban image" to get the ways to inherit the "urban memories" during the urban construction.This paper selects the "Memories of Eastern Outskirts Park" as the research object. From the small target object, this paper concludes the expressions of "urban memories" under the similar landscape. The park, as the most typical theme park of "industrial civilization" in Southwestern China, has special architectural designs. The transformation method of "Red Tube Factory" has become a symbol, whose presence is welcomed by tourists. At the same time, the "Memories of Eastern Outskirts Park" makes a significant breakthrough in integrating new technologies and catering to the new era. It injects new vitality into the seemingly old park. It satisfies the demands of the middle and old people for recalling the industrialization history, but also meets the pursuit of modern youngsters for new lifestyle and inherits the glorious "industrial memories" with spaces.The research, starting with field research, gets the landscape intent element group of the "Memories of Eastern Outskirts Park" from tourists through interviewing the certain number of visitors. Then, a complete intent awareness map of the Park is obtained by comparison and analysis. This map lays a foundation to directly show the tourists’awareness after they experience the park environment and clearly points out the effective elements reflected by the park landscape in the tourists’awareness. Therefore, the paper also summarizes the impact of landscape intent elements on the inheritance of "industrial memories" and guidance of new industries and lifestyle. This paper tries to explore how the park landscape strengthens the design to deeply impress the tourists.After investigation and analysis, the paper summarizes the following urban images of "Memories of Eastern Outskirts Park":in terms of structural urban images, the whole park takes on the space form of "an axis and a ring". With the "central avenue" as the main axis, the city spreads to the west and east. The main region includes "East Gate Entrance Square" and "Chengdu Stage"; the landscape takes the vehicle venue as the center. The awareness radiates from strong to weak degree.From the perspective of urban image evaluation, the Park offers a pleasant environment on the whole. In the mind of tourists, there are many valuable tourist destinations worth visiting. These places are full of characteristics, with strong involvement. The only shortcoming is the green landscape is too small.However, "urban memories" and "urban images" are not actively interacted all the time. They are restricted by each other. When "urban images" provide an effectively broadcasting platform, it is also restricted by the content of "urban memories" while the expressions of "urban memories" are limited by "urban intent elements". Therefore, during the urban construction, we should try to find the balanced point, thereby finding a diversified channel for enriching city connotations. Meanwhile, special attention should also be paid to the accuracy and diversity when urban intent elements are used to express urban memories.Through a series of comparative study, it is concluded that the "Memories of Eastern Outskirts Park" applies the following methods to inheriting urban memories. First, the application of landscape design fully guides the observation of tourists. There is a priority for the designer to express urban memories by guiding the visiting route with a variety of design methods, including landscape structure, road arrangement and node planning. In this way, it makes tourists keep attaching high importance to "urban memories", thereby deeply impressing them. Second, rationally guide the behaviors of tourists. The most direct and effective method is to make tourisms to develop a behavior. They indirectly feel the spirit with the media of substance. This soft method seems to have more effective results than imposing instilment. At the same time, the environment that tourists feel becomes more intimated to the people. Third, create a new lifestyle. There are a variety of art activities in the park, which provides an open and flexible artistic atmosphere.
