With the continuous development of science and technology, power grid has also been greatly developed, so the power system demands on substation is getting more and more. The 220kV power grid has been gradually formed into power network which is running by hierarchical partition. It is the Power grid that play an important impact in the entire country’s economic development and people’s lives Substation is a Power facilitie which Transform voltage、acceptance and distribution of power、Control the flow of electricity and adjust voltage. It is linked all voltage levels to the grid through its voltage transformer.In order to provide sufficient, high quality, cheap, reliable electricity, and optimize the development of substation, the substation will be designed with 500kV, 110kV,35kV, lOkV and 220kV according to the current power situation in our country.Through the trend to the use of electrical development,the new substations should be given priority to their safety,reliability,economy and advanced.This design is discussed about the 220kV substation.According to the original of simulate data, the design of 220kV substation, through the comparison of safety, reliability and economy, to choose the right means of electrical connection mode and suitable capacity of main transformer.Then though them and short circuit calculation to make a reasonable choice of all kinds of electrical equipment in it, including the conductor, switch, tool, mutual inductor, lightning conductor, relay protection equipment, power distribution unit and so on,and the choice of electrical equipment for thermal, dynamic stability test, then finally determine the electrical equipment selection in the station. The paper finally design the main substation equipment, according to the required parameters of the equipment and components of the model, the design of a substation system wiring diagram, and set aside margin for future expansion.
