With the development of science, technology and improvement of living standards, people began to pursue a more comfortable and safe living environment. Family intelligent has become a popular trend. By connecting different electrical equipment in a house, smart home system formed a certain intelligent household life environment, which greatly improved the comfort and convenience of our daily life.Based on research status of intelligent household system at home and abroad, this paper designed and implement a smart home lower order computer system based on embedded technology. The system is composed of family gateway and intelligent control terminal, the family gateway which connected to outside network through the Ethernet, GPRS or WIFI conducts system management. Control terminal is mainly used for local control and real-time display, monitoring environmental information, it can control the electrical equipment such as light, switch, air conditioner and so on. Both the gateway and control terminal have fault alarm and auto-fix abilities.As Wireless communication technology frees the home equipment from cumbersome wiring program, so it is widely used in smart home system.The common wireless communication technology can be listed as: bluetooth, Wi Fi, GPRS and Zig Bee. Among them, The Zig Bee wireless communication technology has the characteristics of network flexibility and low power consumption, so it is choosed as the key technology in the design.Based on the Zig Bee wireless communication technology, this paper presents a smart home system internal network scheme and designed a heterogeneous network communication protocol.We designed smart gateway and intelligent end device in this paper. Firstly, we propose the global design of gateway and end device with the power-saving concept through analyzing their demands in our system, and we provide the corresponding instructions of circuit and main meters of every part. For the achievement of system functions, we design the software part of this system. Similar to hardware part, we finished software global design according to specific drequirements and also followed the low-power leadership.In addition, we verify the correctness and effectiveness of dynamic topology reformation algorithm with designed router nodes. Exhausted nodes will influence the network topology and shorten the network’s system lifetime. On the one hand, the algorithm can improve the join ratio with cluster reformation scheme, on the other hand, it can balance the load between terminal node and router node with self-swap algorithm. The simulation results show that improved algorithm can increase the connection ratio and extend network lifetime compared with traditional Zig Bee Network.After competition of system design, we tested the basic function through intelligent mobile, PC and smart remote controller, the results showed that terminal device can be controlled stably either by client or the remote, the operation of the system is complete and the desired effect can be achieved.
