Comparative Research Of The Chinese And The German Modern Hospital’s Healing Environment Design

Modern science and technology has not only changed the way people live, but also led the change of medical mode. As the medical mode in medical community changed from biological mode to Biology-Psychology-Sociology Pattern, the concept for medical service has also changed a lot from "the cure of disease " to "the cure of patients". Architects are required to consider the relationship between hospital environments and patients’ emotion when design a hospital. The concept of healing environment has thus come into being, and it soon turns to be the current leading concept and value of the build of hospital environment home and abroad.Healthcare architects in Germany have been studying on the relation between environment and the treatment of patients for a long time. They employed the concept of healing environment in their design as well as developed some advanced theories and design mode in this area. However, the concept of healing environment has just got attention in China. It is worth exploring how to use the experience of healing environment design in German hospitals as reference for our healthcare architecture design, thus making the environment of our national hospitals with the properties of healing.This article is focused on the healing environment in Chinese and German hospitals. Under the concept of patients-oriented design, the architectural space is regarded as the mainly research object. Through analyzing the positive effects of healing environment design in some important spaces during the medical process, and its influence on patients physically and psychologically, the essential element and design strategies of healing environment under the physical perception and psychological needs is expected to be explored and summarized. The comparative research of healing environment design between hospitals in China and Germany as well as the analysis of their differences can also help us learn the advanced concepts in medical architecture, and how to combine it with the realistic of hospital’s construction in our country. So as to improve the healing environment design of our national hospitals.
