The Course Of Construction And The Social Value Of Xi’an University Of Architecture And Technology

With the promoting of higher education reform, as well as the continuous development and renewal of knowledge, Chinese universities are facing new challenges. The capacity and environment of traditional campus cannot meet the social demand for talents, which promoting the amalgamation, upgrading, restructuring and expansion of college. Based on this situation,a variety conditions of campus appears, including the historical campus, renovation campus and completely new campus. As one of the most famous architectural university, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology covered the above three construction types, which is the typical of many colleges.Starting from the relevant theoretical researches, this paper carried out case studies and summarized their common features. Through the analysis of XAUAT’s new plan to build a junior campus, this paper mined campus cultural context, identified problems and contradictions campus development, preliminary solving strategies, and then explored the role of social and feedback values, and finally summarized XAUAT’s future development, so as to have some reference to other similar colleges and universities.Firstly, the particularity of XAUAT’s multi-campus development as well as the multi-campus development in the southern suburbs of Xi’an area were summarized and analyzed. The positioning and resource allocation functions of three XAUAT campuses are analyzed, and the preliminary answers to conflict are given.Secondly, in view of the construction planning process, the evolvement of spatial structure, the development of the old campus and the contradiction of the development of the old campus under high density and low green environment were analyzed. In this case, the independent institute and the East Campus Caotang campus were taken as background, the East Campus renewal process and the experimental replacement teaching type, as well as the modern college system and spatial characteristics of Caotang campus were introduced in detail.The analysis of the construction process and the social value of three typical campus of XAUAT provides reference information and advice available to our university campus planning, it surely has important theoretical and practical significance to the policy issues raised.
