Pneumatic motor can compress the gas in the air and convert gas into energy output of mechanical.The piston driven crank linkage move with working fluid in the gas push. during this process, piston ring plays the dual role on lubrication and seal, which has great impact on the efficiency of energy conversion, the research about motor on lubrication and seal of piston and cylinder always be put in the first place by researchers.The analyze on motion law based on the crank link of 5T air motor, piston movement theory and kinetic theory have been established combined with the analyze of the piston ring under different operating characteristics. On this basis, a mathematic theory of equations has been established for the piston ring lubrication properties. Furthermore, Reynolds equation used in piston ring and lubrication is drawn by continuity equation and fluid momentum equation etc. Considering the effect of roughness and introduced shear flow factor and pressure flow factor, the average Reynolds equation is proposed. Analyzes the effect of piston ring and cylinder liner, coaxial height, piston ring lubrication on piston cylinder liner system performance by dynamics analysis software Adams/Engine. Finally based on results of theoretical analyses, in view of the main factors which causes improper lubrication for the traditional piston ring lubrication, optimizes the structure of the existing pneumatic motor piston ring, and proposes a new composite piston ring, contrast and analysis towards the lubrication performance of the new type piston ring and traditional piston ring.The seal performance of the piston rings and cylinder liner have a significant impact on the overall performance of Pneumatic motor。To ensure the lubrication as a precondition, in A detailed study of the sealing performance of the pneumatic motor piston ring-liner is also made in this article. At first kinematics and dynamics theory mode established and the theory model of gas leakage about the piston also be set, the approximate solution of equation can be find by analyze method named Range–Kutta numerical analysis, chamber pressure and ring opening pressure can be analyzed based on this equation, and the effect of ring fracture gaps and crankshaft speed on the size of the leakage can be analyzed by MATLAB, the results of the analysis concluded that the size of the piston ring fracture gaps is the main factors influencing the leakage. The results of seal performance and friction power loss and experimental study on seal performance show that the new composite piston ring can effectively reduce friction power loss in the premise of ensuring seal performance. So the new composite piston ring is not only an effective attempt to the structure design of piston rings but also provides a new way of thinking for design in future.
