Television Lift is a large entertainment project. Tourists can watch movies on it. The project belongs high-speed heavy lifts. It does not require mass production, and it is custom-made product. This feature does not fit the physical prototype development and testing. But we must ensure that the structure is reasonable and safe. Using virtual prototype instead of physical prototypes to verify the design, not only can shorten the development cycle but also can improve design quality and efficiency.Safety gear is the core component of Television Lift’s structure security system. This thesis researches the safety gear with virtual prototyping technology. This thesis analyzes the development process and research of safety gear. The system architecture of Television Lift is designed, and the mechanical properties of safety gear is analyzed. The performance of safety gear is compared and the double wedge progressive safety gear is selected. The three-dimensional solid modeling of safety gear is created with Pro/E. It is imported into the ANSYS Workbench for the static analysis of key components. Its strength and rigidity are verified to meet the braking requirements. Then using the conventional method of calculating analyzes the braking velocity, the braking force and the braking di stance of the safety gear. The three-dimensional solid modeling of the safety gear is imported into the ADAMS. The establishment of a virtual prototype of the safety gear is completed with adding the appropriate constraints and loads, selecting the appropriate impact parameter. Safety gear braking performance curve is drawn after take virtual prototype simulation. Then the Safety gear braking performance is analyzed. The spring preload, stiffness and the coefficient of friction between rail and the wedge are optimized with parametric optimization method in ADAMS. It provides a reference method for the installation and structure improved design of safety gear.
