With the rapid development of economic construction, our development center has shifted to both the new construction and existing buildings retrofitting from only large-scale construction. Many existing high-rise buildings need to improve the use of function, remodeling facades which can not be simply removed. And some of our existing buildings have not considered seismic, or considered low seismic level can not meet the current seismic requirements, so there are many security risks. Therefore, according to the actual situation, seismic appraisal and retrofit existing structures is an important way to reduce earthquake hazards.This paper takes a renovation project of Chongqing marriott executive apartments as an example, through the identification of current seismic standards, local standards and specifications for seismic design understanding, take an structure detection and seismic appraisal to this high-rise frame-shear wall structure renovation and expansion project. and according to the Seismic appraisal conclusions for the design of reinforcement scheme. Then use the finite element software PERFORM-3D to conduct elastic-plastic dynamic time-history analysis for the reinforcement and unreinforcement structure under the action of the rarely met earthquake, which is to evaluate the seismic peformance of reinforced structures. The main conclusions can be drawn out as follows:â‘ Seismic appraisal use two steps methods. The first step comprehensive appraisal one structure seismic capacity from general perspective and construction; However, the second step based on the reasonable value of live load and the ground motion parameters for different seismic continuous working life, calculate the model of the structure after transformation by seismic design code calculation method. Comprehensive appraisal results of two steps, then give the conclusions and suggestions.â‘¡ Based on existing seismic strengthening primary method and application conditions, according to the seismic appraisal conclusions and suggestions of this project, retrofit the structural bearing capacity and ductility of the structure members.â‘¢Reasonable simulation of different strengthening methods nonlinear behavior based on fiber model. Use the finite element software PERFORM-3D to conduct elastic-plastic dynamic time-history analysis for the reinforcement and unreinforcement structure under the action of the rarely met earthquake, all the seismic performance indicators of the retrofitted structure are able to meet the requirements of the current design codes, thus strengthening scheme is effective and feasible.
