Recent years, with the popularization of automotive emerging technology, people pay more and more attention to the safety performance of vehicle. Brake system is the key link to ensure vehicle safety, while traditional hydraulic brake system has been unable to adapt to the trend of automobile brake technology because of its disadvantages such as low efficiency, slow response and complex pipeline etc. Under this background, people begin to study electromechanical brake system. It can overcome the disadvantages of traditional hydraulic brake system, so it has broad development prospect.EMB actuator is one of the most important components of EMB system to generate brake force and its performance is very important to realize the driver’s brake intention and guarantee vehicle safety. This paper takes electromechanical brake as the research object, adopts CAD modeling technology, dynamic simulation technology, and finite element analysis technology to carry out performance analysis and optimization of EMB.Firstly, the design scheme was proposed based on analyzing the domestic and foreign related literature and the actual situation of the target vehicle. Then according to the calculated parameters of the components of EMB, the CAD model was established, and the dynamic model was established in the dynamics analysis software ADAMS. The simulation results showed that the performance of the EMB prototype could meet the design requirements. By comparing the simulation results obtained under different parameters, the main factors affecting the performance of EMB actuator were determined, and the optimization target was proposed.Secondly, the performance of the motor was tested and the test scheme to test the performance of EMB actuator was proposed, including test bench structure design and the purchase of test equipments. Then research on the performance of EMB was carried out on the bench and the working curves and parameters were obtained, these provided a basis for further structure design and the development of control algorithm.Finally, the optimization scheme was proposed based on the main factors that affected the performance of EMB. On the one hand, the advantages and disadvantages of torque motor were analyzed by combining with the requirements of EMB, finally selected a new kind of torque motor after consulting a number of relevant literature. On the other hand, finite element analysis of the key components was carried out. And the weight of EMB was decreased by selecting lightweight materials and adopting structure optimization design technology. And the performance of EMB was improved.
