Electric energy meter is the measurement terminal product of the smart grid construction, while the smart meter is the important business of the development of the meter industry. In accordance with the requirements of the new standard of single phase intelligent electric energy meter’s function and performance, we adopt Ju Quan company production of high-precision measurement chip ATT7053 BU. Design of a novel single phase intelligent remote meter, the meter not only have high precision of measurement function, also has the function of data acquisition, remote control, a power outage detection, two-way communication, real-time monitoring, with set copy system connection, the user demand side management operations. The remote control of the electric energy meter is realized by using the RS485 communication method.This paper introduces the main function and performance of the smart meter, and describes the hardware design, software design and system experiments.. The electric energy meter with digital circuit technology based, single-chip microcomputer as the core, using an integrated modular design, design of hardware circuit and system software, in order to achieve a single remote intelligent meter. The whole circuit system including the measurement part, power supply, clock parts, parts of memory, RS485 communication, infrared communication part, display part, a variety of electrical module connected. Each module functions independently, but the interface is unified, which provides the convenience for realizing the combination and invocation of different functions.. This paper introduced key modules of voltage sampling circuit, a current sampling circuit, power module, communication module, clock and memory module, match clock function, memory function, infrared communication function, RS485 communication function, electrical anomaly detection function, on-off control function, liquid crystal display module function, key function, security authentication, etc. combined to achieve intelligent meter output function requirements, also in the hardware design process combined with electrical performance requirements, meet the needs of users.
