Energy and environment are two major problems faced by the today social development, and wind power has the advantages of non-polluting, renewable and has considerable potential for development in the future. The wind turbine is developing in towards commercialization and large-scale. With the development of large wind turbine, the research of wind turbine system’s dynamic characteristics is more and more important, especially for the large flexible components like blade and tower barrel. In complex condition, whether the wind turbine run normally depends on their dynamic response and load resistance. It has important practical significance for the study of large-scale wind turbine’s dynamic characteristics. The paper mainly did following work based on the research of wind turbine dynamic characteristics.At first, with the understanding of wind turbine’s working principle and operating condition, the paper built the NREL 5MW wind turbine model by the FAST and did the modal analysis, based on the analysis the essay studied the vibration response under static and working condition to prevent resonance phenomenon.Secondly, in order to study the wind turbine’s dynamic characteristics deeply, the paper have studied the control strategy of wind turbine, the paper added the tower acceleration feedback and improved significantly the damping of tower motion. Based on the better control strategy, in order to make the component meet the strength requirements, the paper simulated load changes of three load design cases including earthquake, extreme wind speed and extreme wind direction change, and identified on the ultimate load of blade and tower. Starting with the ultimate load, the paper did the fatigue analysis for the blade and tower on condition that it met the strength requirement. From the perspective of design the article calculated the damage equivalent load and fatigue damage with different material coefficients and ultimate load factors in the lifetime.At last, so as to further analyze the dynamic characteristics of wind turbine system, dynamic characteristic analysis of offshore wind turbine floating platform were analyzed. With the excitation of 0-1Hz white noise waves, the paper studied the influence on six freedom of platform under the effect of soft feature, aerodynamic and wave propagation directions. The paper also calculated the load of three conceptual offshore wind turbines corresponding to different kinds of wind speed and sea states, and the effect on the system’s load under different platforms was analyzed.
