Landfill method is becoming the most important method of processing waste because of its many advantages. Taking effective measures to improve the reliability of the landfill liner anti-seepage system to avoid secondary pollution is an important research method. The waste tire particles modified clay adsorption and physical and mechanical properties research was carried out systematically, and explored the feasibility of it as a compacted clay liner landfill site modification. Research results will help to improve the effectiveness of waste sanitary landfill method and reliability, extend the resource utilization way of discarded tires, has a certain social significance and practical application value.Using the laboratory experiment combined with theoretical analysis, the article carry on the study on mechanical properties and adsorption properties of waste tire rubber modified clay. Preliminarily discussed the waste tire rubber modified clay adsorption, strength, consolidation, compressibility, expansion shrinkage, permeability. The main research contents are as follows:(1)Carried out the waste tire particles and clay for phenol adsorption experiment, combined with related literature achievement, analyzed the waste tire particles of leachate pollutants removal capacity.(2)Laboratory test was conducted to study the waste tire rubber modified clay unconfined compressive strength and direct shear strength and the interface strength with the geosynthetic materials, analyzed the influence of discarded tires granules on the internal strength and interface strength.(3)With single lever consolidometer, the research of clay deformation and the relationship between the void ratio and stress and deformation with time was conducted. By analyzing the compression index, resilience index and coefficient of consolidation, ascertained the discarded tire effect on the consolidation and compression properties of modified clay. Using the contraction and expansion instrument,measured the shrinkage rate and inflation rate of discarded tire particle modified clay, ascertained the influence of tire rubber modified clay on the expansion and shrinkage properties.(4)The rubber particles modified clay saturated permeability coefficient was measured by the variable water head test measurement. The discarded tires influence on the permeability properties of compacted clay was discussed.
