| Water and people nature of life is the most direct, the most close contact. With the requirement of people to continuously improve the city environment, water landscape construction activities have shown growing. The improvement of people’s living level, the city environmental awareness increased, at the same time,people desire to build hydrophilic waterscape is more common, some problems of waterscapeconstruction in northern arid areas will be solved.One of the more prominent features of contemporary landscape design is the harmonious unity for the artificial environment and the natural environment. This paper takes the city in arid area in northern China features as the research object, through the analysis of the characteristics of modern water scape construction system, and puts forward some methods and principles of waterscape design. This paper first development governance Water art are described at home and abroad is summarized; on ecology and behavior as the guidance,and put forward some suggestions for the north city waterscape construction, the research draws the following conclusion:Waterscape design should pay attention to the regional climate and water resource, consistent with the local condition. The shortage of water resources facedthe serious problem of our country, in order to alleviate the crisis of water resources, the state proposed to save water, to build water-saving city requirements.
