With the development of modern architecture, structure became more and more complicated in plane and vertical, in which a large number of abnormal joints appeared.Joints were the significant parts in any structures, which could reflect the structural seismic behavior. However, the current research focus on were normal joints and RC abnormal joints, while the researches on SRC abnormal joints were seldom carried on and there were less test methods and evaluation standards on SRC abnormal joints.Based on 4 SRC model test, the paper, by finite element numerical simulation and theoretical analysis, indicated the seismic behavior and stress mechanism on SRC abnormal exterior joints. The main content was described as follows:1. Based on concrete plastic damage constitutive model, the SRC abnormal exterior joints finite element models were established by ABAQUS. Compared with test results, the FEM results were proved to be right.2. Based on 30 FEM finite element models, the impact of concrete strength grade, steel web thickness and stirrup ratio to the seismic behavior of SRC abnormal exterior joints were analyzed, the results showed that the most significant impact to seismic behavior was steel web thickness; the impact of short-limb wall to the failure mode, failure characteristics and hysteretic relationship of that joints were analyzed, the results showed that short-limb wall proved restraint effect to that joints, changing the failure mode and improving the seismic behavior.3. With the concrete plastic damage accumulation, the characteristics of steel strain distribution were studied, obtaining restraint coefficient, which provided important improvement for crack capacity formula and shear capacity formula on SRC abnormal exterior joints.
