Entering the second decade of the 21 st century, China’s auto industry has been booming. That encourages various areas of the research department, production department and sales to be increasingly competitive. Consumers’ request to the auto safety performance becomes more and more strict, especially the requirements of brake performance. Braking distance of 100 km/h to 0 has become one of the most important indices for reference before consumer buying the car. Although tire-performance is playing a great role in braking performance, the braking performance is affected by its braking system. Therefore, focusing on improving the quality of automobile brake disc’s processing and assembling is currently a hot spot of the researching area.The main task of this project is to develop a set of brake disc end face run-out detecting equipment. It involved in digital design, simulation and the application of automation control technology. Digital design technology specifically refers to the application of the soft wares for digital design and simulation, such as AUTOCAD and CATIA. It helps to make the virtual device intuitive and scientific. Automation and control technology refers to the application of the programmable control technology(PLC) to control the motion of equipment. So, the device can run automatically.This paper has mainly completed the following work. Firstly, it understudied this topic research both at home and abroad, then analyzed shortcomings of the present study and learn from the advantages. Secondly, it studied the theory of brake disc end face run-out detection. The theory includes the cause of the run-out detection, the essential object of this detection and the internal and external influencing factors of detection. Thirdly, it combined the theoretical research and designing, designed the automatic control of the equipment, made a prototype, and then tested it. Find out and analyze the disadvantage, then make the final product design plan. Lastly, it completed the structure design of the final product.In the development of the brake disc end face run-out detecting device, it gives full play to the advantages of the modern technology and sets up a relatively perfect and scientific research plan. That helps to guarantee the development process of high efficiency and the stable operation of production equipment. Therefore, the repeatability error of this machine is less than 0.0040 mm, and its arithmetic mean of face run out value is less than 0.00041 mm.
