This paper takes the typical waterlogging area of Guangzhou as the research object. On the basis of deep analyze the reasons of waterlogging, study on the cohesive relationship between the standards of municipal sewerage and waterlogging drainage from different storm sampling methods, design rainstorm and design discharge. Furthermore, the model of pipe network, rivers and two-dimensional ground is built in Info Works ICM program to obtain the waterlogging control results of different combinations of standards. The main contents are as follows:(1) Deep analyze the reasons of urban waterlogging from natural factor, human factor and variation of urban hydrometeorology. the results show that, as heat island effect is enhanced due to rapid development of urbanization and the changes of use pattern of urban land greatly increased the impervious rate, the law of urban hydrology runoff yield and concentration changes significantly. Storm is the immediate cause of urban waterlogging, and the unfavorable characteristic of urban hydrology runoff yield and concentration is an important reason, the weak bearing capacity has a profound effect on urban waterlogging as well.(2) Study on the effect of storm sampling methods on return period of design rainstorm. The annual maximum method and the annual multi-sampling method are respectively used in rainfall data sampling, and the storm intensity formula is obtained according to the samples of best frequency distribution model. The results show that the difference of sampling methods leads to the inconsistency of return period of rainstorm under the same rain intensity, but it’s not the main reason for the difference between standards of municipal sewerage and waterlogging drainage.(3) Study on the relationship between municipal sewerage and waterlogging drainage. This paper uses measured rainfall data to construct the cohesion of return period in short and long duration, and found that the difference of confluence duration critically affects their return period. The cohesion relationship of rainstorm peak between municipal sewerage and waterlogging drainage is proposed to show that the return period of rainstorm of municipal sewerage to waterlogging drainage is about 5 times.(4) Compare the design discharge of municipal sewerage with waterlogging drainage’s. According to the maximum discharge results of Donghao River in Guangzhou, respectively calculated by methods of municipal sewerage and waterlogging drainage, the return period of design discharge of waterlogging drainage to municipal sewerage is about 10 times.(5) Test the relationship between the standards of municipal sewerage and waterlogging drainage with Info Works ICM models. By analysing the model of pipelines, rivers and 2D ground in Donghao region, the problem of waterlogging can be solve with the combination of 1 year frequency design standard of municipal sewerage and 10 year frequency design standard of waterlogging drainage.
