Rural residential courtyard is an important carrier of carrying the farmers production and life, is also the main place of rural life pollution, as an important part of rural construction, planning and environmental remediation projects it has become the saving of rural construction land, an important means to improve the living environment of farmers. Therefore, the reasonable control of village and town residential courtyard scale, improve the living environment of farmers is the focus of the study of residential courtyard village at the present stage. In cold regions, the contradiction between people and land and environmental pollution problems have become increasingly serious, rural residential courtyard facing the hitherto unknown test.This paper on the cold regions villages residential courtyard as the research object, first to the residential garden, land conservation, ecological environment and promote defines the concepts, summarizes our country rural residential courtyard with the standard and puts forward the problems and drawbacks, and summarizes the general characteristics and influence factors of village and town residential courtyard in severe cold area. Secondly, with survey results, from three aspects, section land, ecological environment, use and demand, qualitative and quantitative presents the main characteristics and space, courtyard living environment factors, and by means of mathematical analysis software to carry on the quantitative classification of villages and towns in cold area, combing the residential courtyard type spectrum, established the corresponding relationship between population characteristics and living courtyard type.
