Over the last decade, with the rapid development of coastal cities, the construction lands are more and more less, so people began to reclaiming land from the sea. Numerous reclamation project and coastal zone exploitation project arises at the historic moment, which making ocean hydrodynamic environment changes, plus water and soil erosion, finally breaking the original seabed seabed erosion balance, accumulating over a long period, causing serious sediment deposition disasters, which affected the development of the coastal city of port shipping. Quanzhou bay is one of the typical examples. From the biggest port in the east to the local port today, Quanzhou bay problem is imminent. In this paper, in light of the sediment deposition problem of the Quanzhou bay, through the way of three aspects, such as on-site testing, numerical simulation and the coastline evolution analysis: systematic study the sediment at the bottom of the Quanzhou bay and hydrodynamic characteristics, typical regional sediment deposition rate, under different working conditions of the seabed washing and deposition distribution and coastline evolution and its fractal characteristics. This research has some certain reference value on the development of Quanzhou bay port shipping and on the planning for the future development of Quanzhou bay. In this paper, the main work and achievements are as follows:1. On-site testing the suspended sediment concentration of Quanzhou bay, on-site sampling surface sediment, and analyzing the surface sediment particle size and distribution in the laboratory. Collect trend data collection of Quanzhou bay, and analysis water level and tidal characteristics of Quanzhou bay.2. Monitoring the rate of typical sediment deposition of Quanzhou bay, got the rate of typical sediment deposition of Quanzhou bay.3. Using Mike21 to establish hydrodynamic and sediment numerical model of Quanzhou bay, and then analyzing and study the sediment deposition of Quanzhou bay under the trend and extreme water level, and predict the future trend of sediment deposition. Simulation results show that most area of the Quanzhou bay are in a slight sediment deposition situation, the largest area of sediment deposition located in Xunmei, the area between Houzhu downstream and Xunpu, the estuary of Jinjiang river.4. Based on the GIS technology, using Quanzhou Bay remote sensing image between 1987 to 2011, analyzing coastline evolution process caused by sediment deposition of Quanzhou bay, and combined with fractal theory, analyzing the fractal rule of coastline evolution.
