As the Chinese economy keeps blooming and the city constructure speed is kept at fast level, the ideas of urban planning and construction are more focusing on high density, mixed-utilization and intensification. The commercial complex meeting these requrements are very popular to business, investor and consumers and spreading from first-tier cities to secondary-tier cities. At the same time, the motorization level of cities is keep increasing, driving becomes an important part of daily life of people. Thus making sure the parking index reasonable and user-friendly is very important for running a commercial complex effectively since most consumers are car owners. However, currently seldom of commercial complexes are meeting these requirements, which brings the topic of this research, optimization of the parking space number and quality of the commercial complexes. This paper is from the angle of contemporary architecture. By summarizing the enlightenment in traditional dwellings and slope residence case researching in Chongqing and Sichuan, this paper finds the existing objective problems, which includes despising the slope environment inside and outside site in planning,poor slope adaptability in architecture, no slope characteristic in environment landscape.The section 1 descusses the topic selection of the research, defines the research target and range and demonstrates related concept of the topic. Current demostic and international researches on this topic are also summarized. Based on the contents above, research purpose, contents, methods and structures are stated.The section 2 firstly demonstrated the history of the commercial-complex parking and the related issues are summarized. It is clearly pointed out that the root of the commercial-complex parking problem is the high-density mixed-use land parking issue. Then the theories on mixed-use land development and parking design are summarized. At last the factors of the features, types, functionality requirements, traffic line and human requirements are researched.The section 3 discussed the on-site research results of 16 commer complexes in 16 western Chinese cities from the quality and quantity point of view, based on the theories and pre-study. From the research results, the reasons lead to parking issues are analyzed and summarized.The section 4 analyzes the shortage of parking space and extensive design problems. Firstly it is the future trend of the rate of parking index of the researched complexes. The results shows that the resonable rate should be around 1.0. Based on this number and the constructure features, the optimization strategies are proposed from two methods: Compatibilization and decreasing occupies.The section 5 focuses on the improvement of the parking quality. Firstly the improving methods of non-even utilization of the traffic line node and path are proposed. Then targetting on the shortage and based on the user requirements, the design optimization strategy of the space environment, introductory and details are proposed.The section 6 summarizes the research, including results and downsides, forecating and future work are also demonstrated.
