The precision of weighting explosive initiator compositions will influence directly on the performance of ammunitions. However, it still adopts old production technology for the current weighting, which only depends on manual operation. There is no weighting indicator and data record for data traceability during the weighting process. Focusing on the situation, it is of great significance to develop high-efficiency devices to assist operators for improving the level of ammunition compositions weighting.The subject is derived from the cooperation project of Automation college of Chongqing University and A Factory. Aiming at the overcoming the shortage in weighting process in a certain degree, it developed an equipment that could monitor and analyze as well as record weighting process for ammunition compositions weighting. The main works are described as follows in this paper:Firstly, it analyzed the current weighting process. After evaluating the actual weighting field, specific balance was chosen for the weighting. Besides, it designed the electronic balance and the intrinsic safety power supply system of the device to be developed based on the requirement of avoiding blasting. Considering the manipulative process comprehensively, then the production structure was designed so as not to change operators’ manipulation experience.Secondly, the status recognition was done for the weighting process. After making sure of the weighting flow, the weighting data was analyzed. It mainly researched the stability during the process, status judgment of pallet after the weighting as well as over-weight warning and the fast recognition algorithm was proposed.Thirdly, based on the embedded system, the concrete realization of the device was designed. Under the condition that manipulation maintainability and correctness, the circuits design of the communication, manipulation interface control, and energy efficiency management are completed as well as sound and light alarming etc.Finally, based on the present situation of no data record in the weighting process, the current data storage methods were analyzed and the management of data stored based on USB was designed for high-efficiency and precise data conservation. Thus the systemic automatic monitoring equipment was developed.The equipment can achieve the accurate recognition of explosive initiator compositions, precise data recording without changing operators’ manipulation habits and the over-weight alarming in the weighting process. After the weighting, all the data is then dumped by USB for assurance of data traceability.
