The 21 st century is age that full of risk and opportunity. With a rapid development of auto industry, there is an increasing demand for the automobile engine. The connecting rod, which as one of the most important component of automobile engine, is consequently required more and more. This provides a great market and wide development for the connecting rod industry. However, it also has aroused a violent competition in the market. Therefore, if the enterprise wants to survive in this competition, it has to shorten its production cycle as much as possible. What’s more, it should try to advance the time of delivery under the condition of guaranteeing the product quality. Only by doing so can the demand of downstream customers be reflected quickly, which gives a helpful advice to enterprise on accepting orders. In terms of the current connecting rod market, the production schedule and shipping time are mainly subject to the production plane of factories of upstream. As a result, the dynamic change of the connecting rod production cycle is an important problem that the enterprises will be faced with.This paper has studied the production efficiency of connecting rod, and the production line was analyzed by developing a model and performing simulations. a optimization for the manufacturing system that combine with the theory of constraints and ProModel software are proposed based on the real data, by using DEDS(discrete event dynamic systems) modeling.According to the five focusing steps and principles of TOC(theory of constraints), the implement status was simulated by ProModel to get the important parameters in production. Based on the simulation results, the workstation and equipment usage during producing has been fully studied so that the bottleneck was found out. To elevate the bottleneck, an optimization scheme for connecting rod production line was made. Then simulated the optimized production line and the results demonstrate it has a much higher production efficiency.The simulation results indicate that: the bottleneck in production can be discovered quickly with the help of simulation model; Combined with the simulation results and TOC, an improvement scheme can be figured out to increase the productivity of enterprise, which providing enterprise sufficient advantage in the keencompetition marketing environment.
