According to an aircraft manufacturing enterprise’s requirements for composite aircraft structures manufacturing knowledge base, the paper uses the knowledge of composites structures manufacturing on the foundation of process knowledge, tooling knowledge and tolerance decision as the three main line to have a deep study of the manufacturing knowledge of composites components. The paper eventually achieves the composite component manufacturing knowledge acquisition,the design of the database and the algorithm, and develops a knowledge base system. The main work is summarized as follows:Through a comprehensive analysis and induction of composite component knowledge which includes the knowledge of process design, tooling design and tolerance decision of composite structures, the paper divides the composites components manufacturing knowledge into declarative and procedural parts. And then uses object oriented method to express declarative knowledge, and the rule and example to indicate procedural knowledge. After analyzing the achieved knowledge, the paper makes it clear that the process and methods to get composite materials manufacturing knowledge. Finally, by using the based on object-oriented modeling methods, the paper established a data model of the composite component manufacturing knowledge, which includes the data models of declarative and procedural knowledge.Based on the analysis of users’ demands, the paper made it clear that the general requirements for knowledge base system, which consists of the requirements of functions, network and system framework. The paper also devised the application framework and prepared for system design. By comparing the data model of composite component manufacturing knowledge, the paper put forward a management mode of the knowledge database and set up a knowledge coding system and then completed the design of knowledge categories base, knowledge item index database, standard library, assembly process case base and manufacturing resource database.The paper put forward relative algorithms in consideration of procedural knowledge. The relative algorithms contain case-based reasoning algorithm, rule-based reasoning algorithm and calculation formula algorithm.The paper accomplished a knowledge base system of composite component manufacturing knowledge. The system could realize the composite component manufacturing knowledge of searching, browsing, reasoning, decision-making and other functions, and offered the upload,download and online preview function of PDF, 3DXML, DWG and other formats. It could also improve the standardized management of composite component manufacturing knowledge, and enhance the efficiency and quantity of composite component manufacturing and provide a platform for inheriting composite manufacturing experience and examples as well.
