The first interior space suspension bridge of China has been built in the Bengbu Museum, which contains a lot for research. As the main route for museum visiting, the suspension bridge must be required for its great bearing capacity, therefore, it is undoubted to be designed with a body of high security. So in this paper the writer would make research about the security of the space suspension bridge in two parts, including its bearing capacity and comfort level. And the results would be test and verified by the comparative analysis between measured values and calculated ones in the field research of static bearing test and vibration comport test. The accomplished work contains the following parts:(1)This paper had finished the static bearing test of the structure of the suspension bridge in 9 different working conditions, including no-load, full-load on the whole bridge deck, full-load in the nook, etc. The test showed that the body of the suspension bridge could support 4 people on each stage. And there was not any evident sense of shake, which showed the good security of the bridge according to the report from those participants in the experiment. Also when the article made a comparison between the results of the static bearing test with the design value of the axial force of the suspender, This article found that both the vertical and the diagonal ones could satisfy the demand of the bearing capacity. There was no much variation in the static bearing test according to every working condition and no abnormity had been found, as the data used are all genuine and reliable.(2)Following the numerical model of the static bearing test worked out by Rhino and Midas-civil Software, we analyzed out that there are some differences maintained in the axial force of the suspender between working conditions and actual measurement, which were mainly caused by the simplification made in the calculation model of its boundary conditions, deck sections, nooks, fixed place and load. However the article could find out that the data trends of the measured values and calculated ones are similar in the contrast diagram of their axial force, while they shared similar curve peaks. Referring to the results received in the static bearing test, it could be regarded that the axial force of the suspender meet the needs of its design, then we could make it clear that the calculated values of its axial force also meet the requirements, that is to say, the safety of the space suspension bridge is qualified.(3)Upon the structural features, field conditions and design requirements of the space suspension bridge, the natural frequency test of vibration, the natural mode test of vibration, and the vibration response test with the exciting function of load have been done and the results have been reached, while the peak acceleration and root-mean-square acceleration have also been analyzed with an evaluation of its amenity. There came a finding during our field measurement that one stage of the suspension bridge held its vertical natural frequency of vibration of 6.625 Hz, which fit the standards both at home and abroad. Thus the amenity of the suspension bridge could be declared to meet the requirements, and most of its acceleration indexes are up to standard. What is more, combining with the existing valuation target of amenity around the world, the natural frequency data of vibration, and its acceleration indexes, could we come to the conclusion that the space suspension bridge in the Bengbu Museum is qualified in its vibration comfort with the exciting function of load.
