The Research On The Chinese Royal Garden Landscape Design Affected By The Traditional Chinese Calendar

The traditional Chinese calendar is a revelation of the spiritual features of the ancient Chinese society, which shows some cultural experience and the cognition of the world. The traditional Chinese calendar affected Chinese values, space-time view, ecological view and so on. And the traditional Chinese calendar has such profound and deep impacts on ancient and modern Chinese society. The traditional Chinese calendar is the important part of the Chinese traditional culture, and its characteristics influence the landscape design of the Chinese royal garden. The researches of the characteristics presented in the Chinese royal garden landscape design aim to explore the cultural and scientific connotation of the traditional Chinese calendar in the Chinese royal garden landscape design, explore the necessity and importance of the traditional Chinese calendar in the landscape design of the Chinese royal garden,and to put forward some beneficial theoretical guidance for the development of contemporary landscape design.The effect of the traditional Chinese calendar in the Chinese royal garden based on the traditional calendar and traditional cultural philosophy theory. This paper analyzes the idea and the mode of representation of the characteristics of the traditional Chinese calendar in the Chinese royal garden landscape design, combining with the ancient and modern landscape design theory and instances of royal garden landscape. This paper tries to summarize the inherent law and provide theoretical guidance for contemporary design.Firstly, this paper concluded the related theories of the traditional Chinese calendar,and analyzed the relationships between the revolution of the traditional Chinese calendar and the developments of the Chinese royal garden. Then points out that the Chinese royal garden have a profound positive impact by the characteristics: timely design, spatial-temporal fusion, landscape order and concept of time and space. Secondly, this paper reveals the dual effects of the traditional Chinese calendar from two aspects:the landscape forms and gardening. This paper combines with theory and illustrations to study the reconciliation with heaven and earth, schema of mountain and river, activities and ceremonies of the sacrifice, hierarchy, space configuration, artistic technique, and feeling of time and space in the Chinese royal garden landscape design. This paper studies on the ecological design in the Chinese royal garden affected by the traditional Chinese calendar, and expounds the scientific meaning behind it with examples. Last but not least, there is a chapter to summarize the landscape experience of circularity, dynamic and timely design in the Chinese royal garden, and to provide some methods and ideas of contemporary landscape design.
