During the construction of large-scale nuclear power projects in China, the application of modular technology make the main component of hoisting weight increase significantly. As the weight of large crawler crane and its components increase massively, the pressure of large crawler crane on the ground will be more likely to cause engineering accidents, such as crane overturning, either in the process of construction or transportation. In the construction of nuclear power, the use of large crawler cranes often work together with laying welded grillage slabs to reduce the pressure on the ground, therefore contributes to safety of terminal and decreasing costs. By introducing the finite element software ANSYS, the article provides with the mechanical and deformation behavior of different types of welded grillage slabs and connected welded grillage slabs.Research shows that as the height and vertical plate thickness enhanced, the bearing capacity increased simultaneously due to the analysis of single welded grillage slabs. The load capacity, that is load division ratio, will increase as the elastic coefficient of foundation decreases. From the analysis of connected welded grillage slabs, it has better load capacity than single welded grillage slabs. To make it more convincing, the paper selected four models, the catamaran model, the completely contacted model, the completely rigid model, the face rigid and face to face contact combined model. Research shows combined with rigid and contact are the most consistent under actual situation of engineering. Moreover, from analysis of various factors to the catamaran model, it can be found that the load capacity of connected welded grillage slabs can be improved by reducing the elastic modulus of foundation, increasing the centroid distance of two block and using the steel sheet is connected at the bottom of two subgrade welded grillage slabs. Finally, the comparison of the results of FEM analysisand on-site test analysis shows that the established finite element models and analysis results are reasonable.
