Facing the rapid development of national economy, the contradiction of strong demand of electric power and the environmental protection is more and more outstanding. Developing low carbon economy, implementing energy-saving and emission-reduction, protecting ecological environment are the basic national policies of China, which can promote China’s sustainable development. It is the development of ultra-supercritical unit(USC) and high ultra-supercritical unit(HUSC) which can meet the basic national policies.With the rapid development of electric power demand, USC are towards higher parameter and larger capacity. In order to develop in the field of reheated USC and HUSC, one indispensable condition is developing the high temperature material. But the long research cycle restricts the development of the high temperature material. So research and development of advanced cooling technology and cooling structure is also an important key technology. Some high temperature components cannot be completed localization, which is restricting the upgrading to the products. Using the cooling technology can reduce the temperature of high temperature components, so it can reduce the using material level, polish up the temperature distribution inside the turbine, and improve the flexibility and reliability of steam turbine.Because the USC technology is transferred, a vortex cooling technology of medium pressure inlet is used. The Licensor provided only the geometric data of vortex cooling, and no design method and criterion. This requires in-depth study on medium pressure vortex cooling structure, master and improves the medium pressure vortex cooling technology. In this paper, through the process of medium pressure vortex cooling, explore the flow mechanism inside, and the influence of the related factors on the cooling effect of medium pressure vortex cooling, in order to provide guidance for the future of the company products(such as HUSC and two reheated unit).
