With the development of high-speed railway, most ordinary trains have been halted, which caused some passengers dissatisfaction. In order to satisfy the different requirement of passengers, the passenger trains speed of 160km/h and above are complementary to the multiple unit train in high-speed railway, which become a direction of efficiently utilize railway resources.As one of the key parts on railway vehicles, the coupler buffer device connects the vehicles which passing train traction or braking force and bearing the longitudinal impulse. The coupler buffer device becomes one of the influence of the main structural vertical vibration and longitudinal acceleration of the train, which directly affects the comfort and safety of trains. At present the passenger trains running speed below 120km/h have NO 15 couplers and G1 buffers in our country. But the longitudinal impulse still exists in passenger train speed governing or braking, which has brought intense discomfort and same security risks for passenger. So the matching that the performance of the coupler buffer device and the speed, the structure, the application form of trains directly affects the comfort of passenger and the safety of the train. The coupler buffer device commonly used at present has not adapted to the vehicle rapid operation requirements for safety and comfort, especially for the passenger trains speed of 160km/h and above. On the other hand, the coupler buffer device of the multiple unit trains speed of 200km/h and above cannot simply used in ordinary passenger trains. Therefore, the design and research for the longitudinal impact to the comfort and structure and properties of running status are very necessary to the passenger trains speed of 160km/h and above.With the study of the increased passenger trains safety and comfort, the paper has reached the law of comfort through analyzing the effect of the coupler buffer device and its performance parameters of structure to the train longitudinal acceleration. Then the parameters of the coupler buffer device have been got by analyzing the principle and performance of ordinary trains, and the parameters have been analyzed to the influence of the comfort using SIMPACK. The structure of the coupling hook has been proved meeting the strength safety requirements by Pro/E and ANSYS. Finally the strength test of coupler, the related experiments testing to car hooks and buffer have been proceed including hook intensity test, re-hang test, gap test, hermetic test, draft gears capacity test, durability test and solid test. The results show that the selected material and the critical component can meet the request of design to the trains speed of 160km/h and above.It is intended that the development, analysis and the method of verification by test should be of some reference value for the design of coupler and buffer to passenger train in main railway line.
