At present, building insulation increasingly become the focus of the society. And the building fire related to building insulation materials brings huge loss of life and property, at the same time, it also makes the flame retardant insulation material more attention. As a common building insulation materials, polystyrene foam board has advantages, such as low thermal conductivity, low density, good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, waterproof, relatively simple production and processing process, the high rate of finished products. The non-flame retardant polystyrene foam board is easy to light and burning fast, the smoke is large and the production of molten droplets, so that it is disabled in the building insulation.This paper studied the preparation of a lightweight high performance fireproof polystyrene insulation board. The complex flame retardant mainly composed of expandable graphite, organic resin and P-N organic flame retardant. The flame retardant is coated on the surface of polystyrene foamed particles through a certain process, and this special structure is used to prepare the new type of flame retardant polystyrene foam insulation board by steam foaming. Compared with the traditional coated flame retardant polystyrene foam insulation board, the new insulation board solves the problem of the mechanical properties of the insulation board decrease sharply after adding flame retardant. Besides this,it also solves the problem that the amount of flame retardant is limited compare to synthetic flame retardant polystyrene insulation board, to ensure that the flame retardant works.In this experiment, pre-foam machine and the mold both are made by ourselves. The effect of technological parameters on the mechanical properties and physical properties of the insulation board was studied, and the optimal formulation and preparation process were optimized by single factor and multi factor optimization experiment.The results showed that the prepared foamed EPS beads density was 23 g/L, when the pre foaming steam pressure is 0.4MPa and the time is 50 s, and it is more suitable for the insulation board preparation; curing 8h after beads coated with insulation board molding steam foaming molding, the steam pressure of 0.3MPa, time for 240 s, covering amount accounts for the mold volume ratio is 92%, we can get the excellent performance flame retardant polystyrene foam insulation board. Flame retardant compound proportion for A:EG:C:D=13:6:2:2. The final insulation board size is 600mm×1200mm×50mm, density 27.6Kg/m3, compressive strength 0.108Mpa/ tensile strength 0.196 Mpa, oxygen index was 38%, coefficient of thermal conductivity 0.0359W/(m·K), the flame retardant effect significantly and lightweight thermal insulation.
