In the era of rapid development of China’s high-speed rail, high-speed EMU security issues become a concern, especially the problem of EMU roof exposed in the outdoor high-voltage insulator insulation performance. Since the environmental factors, high-voltage insulators often suffer severe weather invasion: rain, snow, wind, fog and haze, ice cover, etc. These adverse weather factors likely to weakened insulation performance of insulation equipment and high voltage insulation between the roof, leading to flashover produce short circuit fault problems that will cause damage to high-voltage equipment, catenary and pantograph slide bonding, even the serious situation of blow catenary, resulting in paralysis of the entire line. To solve this problem, this paper introduces a new type of detection device-EMU roof insulation testing devices. The device can provide sufficient high voltage output and the capacity is large enough which can overcome the defect of insulation detection device which based on the original principle of transformer booster.In this paper, EMU roof insulation detection device and its controller design and research, including the following aspects:1. EMU roof insulation testing device uses EMU comes with 24 V voltage, via inverter converts 30 kV high voltage regulator, to achieve the high-pressure side pressure, measuring ground leakage current step-up transformer, thus judge the insulator insulation performance. Introducing the device functions as well as the most important device operating mechanism in detail by this design concept and design principle of the device.2. Focusing on the EMU roof insulation monitoring device controller introduction. The hardware description including design ideas, design principles, and circuit analysis.3. The software introduces the device system overall software process, each module driver design and the calculation of displayed voltage current RMS by using the root mean square algorithm.4. According to all the above designs, make a large number of experiments in the laboratory as well as practical EMU means, including clean conditions, dirty conditions and test under real conditions, then analyze the experimental data and charts to obtain leakage current value, and compare the leakage current value that shown from the controller with set point value based on the control principle, the device will automatically protected when it exceed the set value of system security.Through the analysis of the result of the test, In this paper the designed controller can ensure that the insulation detection device accurately detect the roof high voltage insulator insulation performance, which can prove the reliability of the device and its controller.
